Progress - Toilet

February 2014

The old Toilet was a long narrow room adjacent to the Stairwell. Given the amount of structural work that had to be done on the 2nd Floor it was decided to demolish the existing toilet (including the walls) and re-build it in line with the other structural renovations. The photo at right shows where the toilet used to be, with the old wall lining up under the beam to the left of Thierry, who is up the ladder working on new plumbing.

The new toilet structure was built, with the side wall moved outward slightly to line up with the half-wall in the Kitchenette, and the front wall moved forward to line up with the triangular window wall running over the stairwell entrance. The new longer toilet room will give space for a small wash basin within the toilet room. The toilet cistern was then installed.

April 2014

The toilet cistern was installed in an offset position, as shown below, to allow the VMC ductwork, and other pipework, to run down a services shaft that will be constructed next to the toilet.

June 2014

The plasterwork has now been completed in the Toilet, as shown below, showing the position for the Toilet at left of picture and the boxed-in services shaft at right of picture.

July 2014

This month saw the house regain a working Toilet when the 2nd Floor Toilet was installed. Soon thereafter, the wash basin and tiling were installed.
